    The Savage floating bolt head problem of several years ago reaching epidemic proportions caused me to dump a look a like twin set in .223 and .308. I even sent one rifle to the supposed Savage expert in Ohio, and it came back with the same problem. No more for me, could care less if the new ones are great. How that problem ever got out of the factory is beyond me. It's a 700 for me from now on, but then the Cooper 21 is my favorite over all.

    Failure to extract, failure to eject.

    Ah I gotcha.

    I've never had or seen a failure to extract issue, but sadly the ejection issues are pretty common. Sharp Shooter Supply makes a $8 kit that has a new spring, ejector and extractor detent ball that GREATLY improves function...but it still doesn't toss brass with as much authority as the average 700.

    Can't go wrong on this one, just hold them both and you'll have a preference. I'm partial to Remington, only because that's what I grew up with. Best wishes.
