I need some help from the INGO computer guys.

I would like an inexpensive desktop computer for

    • surfing the web (OK, mainly INGO ;))
    • burning CD/DVDs
    • light photo editing
    • word processing
I won't be using it for gaming, video editing, using large programs, or storing large files. I already have peripherals, including a monitor.

My budget is $150 or less.

What refurbished computers would you recommend? What would you stay away from? Any good sites or stores I should be looking at?

    Thanks for your help! :ingo:

I bought an HP desktop off of tigerdirect a couple years ago for right around that price point.

Hp/Lenovo would be the 2 I would stick with along with a google search of which ever models you narrow your selections to.

There is a booth at the Emporium Market that has several "refurbished" computers at and below your price range. Can't vouch for the quality, but he has been there awhile. Might be worth a look.

Evan, I have a Gateway GT 4022 that lost a driver and Microsoft does not support that anymore, there is no way to get it to run Windows. It was a running machine when I last used it. I had plans on loading Linux on it and using it as a home machine but ended up getting a MacBook Pro. If you want it, let me know and it is yours. It does have an Esata card installed as well if that makes a difference as well as upgraded 3gb RAM.

If your ever down in the Evansville area my son's old laptop is a HP dv6500 you can have.

I don't think the battery will hold a charge, so it needs to be plugged in when in uses.

Evan, there is a computer shop in Home Place (Carmel) off of 106th & College with some very reasonably priced refurbished computers that has been in business at least 5yrs.

I've got a desktop that I don't use anymore, great for goofing off on INGO. :): I would gift it to you but we are a few miles away. :noway: If you're going to be down around Clifty falls anytime soon holler at me.
