They've set up the single worst shall issue system in the country. Yeah, there's a system and a process but almost no one qualifies for a non-resident license. It's positively ridiculous.

As far as I know, there is no non-resident license.

IL does have a non-res license. But it can only be applied for if you are a resident of a state "with substantially similar laws" as determined by the state police. At the moment there are 4 states that they have decided meets the requirements. HI, NM, SC, and VA.

    This is correct. Jim.

The elitist suspicion of gov't vetted, card carrying, good citizens, is thick. I wonder whether presenting official stats on the rate of crimes committed by CCW holders would have made any kind of impression on them.

No it would not this is Communist IL where Obama and Clinton hail from. They will do everything in there power to deny law abiding citizens there rights. And soon Clinton from this low life state will take over the white house and we will all feel the pain of poor IL residents.

... and the fee for a non-resident license is double, at $300.

Plus the 16 hours of training.

I'm assuming we can still have our loaded carry handgun(s) in the car when crossing from Indiana to Illinois, right?
Just can't carry outside the car in Illinois... right?

    Indy, correct, nothing changed.

The denial of the prelim injunction means that the Court will not vacate the Illinois non-resident provisions until after a hearing, argument and an order.

No front end, have to wait for the back end decision. Make sense?

So let me get this straight. In order to get an out of state IL permit, you have to have a permit from a state that has essentially the same requirements including training.

Yet, you still have to take their training and go through their background check.

    Hmmmm.

We see what they're doing there.

Something some here may not know; Illinois never willfully passed a carry law. A federal judge in "Moore v Madigan" rulled the total ban on "carry outside the home" was un-constitutional and gave the state a time limit to impliment some type of carry law. The current carry law was passed on the afternoon of the last day before the deadline. It was then sent to the current governor who sat on the bill untill his last day when he did an ammendatory veto where he re-wrote the bill into something closer to a New Jersey type law. The re-writen bill was so bad his veto was overriden and about nine months later it became active. Just a little history lesson for the newer people. Jim.
