I carry at my post often regularly, although I'm concealed when I do cuz I'm mailing envelopes to clients while working. I wanna hear what some of those on INGO familiar with the laws have to say about this.

There is a law suit that may one day legalize carry at the post office.

Colorado couple fight U.S. Postal Service ban on guns - latimes.com

I was not aware that the PO prohibition extended to the parking lot.

I remember back in the 70's or 80's there was a rash of postal workers shooting up post offices and their co workers.

I suppose that is reason enough to disarm the public.
Yup, but not to your car. As long as you disarm before exiting the vehicle you're good...unless you are riding a motorcycle or a horse?

"Going Postal" is a reason the public SHOULD go to the post office armed. Self defense from postal workers. :)

I sell a few guns on gunbroker through the shop and I have to take the guns to the post office to mail. I always remove my sidearm when I go inside and I asked the person behind the counter about the fact that I am bringing two pistols into to ship, yet I have to disarm when I come in. He said he agreed about the silliness but those are the rules.

That's why I thought you might think about it before you hit the pavement.

If I hit the pavement at 70 MPH....on my left side...my holster is gone in the first 15 feet if I have no jacket. Jeans last less than 3 feet.

But since I ride with a VERY heavy leather jacket...chances are it will protect my MP.

Cheap leather is not much better than jeans material for protecting your hide and other things from pavement.

Yeah, I would carry IWB in the post office, then decided it wasnt worth the risk, so I leave it in the car, and put it right back on when I'm done
