LOL. Actually, yeah, I had a friend whose first car had a manual choke. But the handle was broken, so he had to keep a pair of pliers in the car so he could pull it out.

And no, I had NOT heard of that. Geez, what else have I been missing?

I do know that some cars had the gears all in a straight line even on manuals, while only automatics seem to be that way now.

Oh, and I know that it used to be at least somewhat common for the shifter on a standard transmission to be on the steering column, which is why "four on the floor" was so special.

    ETA...

To anyone that just watched the first video and posted, check out post #22...I was severely one-upped.:puke:

Yeah, but that guy was just trying to be an idiot. That wasn't so much of a stupid mistake as just a horrible decision.

I had a car with a dimmer switch on the floor, manual choke, a spark advance lever and a throttle lever on the column, a manual shift on the floor you could pull straight up and shove over out of the way so your girl could scoot over next to you, the heater was an option, the back seat was out side in the trunk...

Had cars with buttons on the dash to push to set the P N D 2 1 setting for push button automatic transmission.

I'd take any of them over any two of these jap sardine cans and sardine can wannabees on the road today. Even if the heat was optional.
