Wait, isn't Ted Cruz the "Principled Conservative"? This election cycle has me confused. Everyone is "Establishment". No one is "Principled" (IN POLITICS!!! I'M SHOCKED!). I can't keep it straight anymore (not that I'm going to be keeping it gay or anything...).

I'm not sure there has been one since Goldwater. Actually having principles I suspect would make you recoil from politics' dirty water

I think the number one reason is the same one that kept hilly from picking warren. Presidents don't want a number two that might shine brighter and attract more attention. This has likely been a factor since the presidential candidates started picking their running mates.
Maybe, but I also heard that the rich Koch Brothers so far had refused to give Trump campaign funds and that the Koch Bros. like Pence and now are supposedly warming to the idea of helping finance some of Trumps advertisements and campaign expenses.

Charles Koch, in an interview just compared Hillary and Trump to a heart attack and cancer. I doubt they're going to get any of his money and certainly not his support.

    True, and as they say,

    Always follow the money

...if you really believe Trump will win this running away because you think everyone else thinks like you do, you need to get out more and experience the world outside. The only reason that Trump is competitive now is the FBI report on the emails. There is plenty of time for Trump's antics to make people forget about the emails.

I'm not saying Trump can't win. I'm admonishing you guys to regard reality. This election is more of a Cluster**** than you realize.

There's more than enough naivete to go around, however. Anybody who thinks the GOP would be in a better position right now with Jeb, or Rubio, is not living in reality, either. And I really do think there are those who believe that. I don't recall anywhere near so many people having so much trouble with the GOP candidate, back when it was Romney. Romney was not ever in that race. Now all of a sudden, we're in a "crisis?"

If you really think this election is more of a cluster than the last one, then I have to conclude there's more reality-deficit here than some realize.

If you really believe that, just wow. Yes, last election was a cluster****. But this one pales in comparison. If you really think that, you're drastically overestimating the quality of the GOP presumptive nominee. I'm going by the numbers and not the color of the koolaid everyone around me is drinking.

Almost 60% thinks Hillary broke the law. Her unfavorability is only second to Trump's. Any candidate should be absolutely trouncing Hillary. But Trump can barely keep up. I think at this point, Jeb! or Rubio certainly wouldn't get much support from the base, but given the number of independents who hate Hillary, I don't think that would matter that much. The reason Trump isn't doing better is because people just don't trust him. Trump has less support within his own Party now than Romney did in 2012.

81% of voters are afraid of a Hillary or Trump presidency. I just don't see how much more cluster****ed an election can get!

Take a look in the mirror sir. :) You might be the one that needs to get out a bit?
