it was only a few years ago I learned that pineapples don’t grow on trees! Turns out it is more of a shrub/planty looking thing. I just assumed tall trees for decades.

No, plenty old enough. I guess I just didn’t pay that much attention to it. I remember the show, but didn’t watch it that much. Most of my youth was spent in the woods and hay fields.
