For all of you interested in an M1 Garand or Carbine, I'd reccomend checking out the CMP. Much more affordable than you thought, probably. You can get a rack grade M1 Carbine for $419... CMP Sales

I had (tragically they were all lost in a boating accident) a Correct Grade M1 Garand, 2 M1 Carbines (A Winchester and an Underwood), and a 1903 Springfield. There is also an M1 barreled receiver on the way from CMP that I am going to build into another M1, unless the dang thing gets lost on my boat. I'm going to look in to getting a Jap Ariska rifle to go with the bayonet I have. A guy my Dad knew brought it back from the war and gave it to him. I am also planning on getting an 1894 Krag and 1917 Enfield (Had one many years ago but traded it for the Garand).

I dont mean to thread jack, but I couldn't help think off topic on this thread.

Just imagine a few generations from now. Here on INGO there will be a Other War on Terror Long Gun pic thread.

Okay now show me some more pretty wood rifles.

I've owned an Enfield for more than 3/5 of my life bought my first one when I was 12
I do love Enfield's all models
They still hold the record for fastest accurate shots with a bolt gun

These are in addition to my collection of Mosins that I posted pics of in an earlier posting
Here are mine left to right
-2 sister Enfields No2 Mk4's. Never fired, one unwrapped and the other left in its wrap. I placed it in a protective sealed bag to keep the wrap from getting rubbed off in the safe.
-My great grandfathers Marlin Model 42 12ga shotgun
    -Inland M1 carbine (Import)
    -Springfield M1 Garand (Import)
-Yugoslavian M48 Mauser converted to a sniper during the Bosnian War
    -Russian Capture German K98k Mauser
    -Yugoslavian SKS
    -Albanian SKS
Not pictured is my grandfather's Winchester Model 67 .22 rifle
A couple not from WWII but ALL are C&R.

Denny347 do you shoot your marlin model 42?
No, all the websites I found (very few) say that it is not safe to shoot due to the way the bolt is held into place plus its age. It is told that the bolt could come lose when you shoot it and hit you in the face..not good. I would love to shoot it though. My great grandfather used to hunt rabbits with it. My grandfather then got it when his father passed away and now he gave it to me for "safekeeping" in my safe.

A true sleeper is the K31 Schmidt-Rubin. I have two of them. One was built in 1934 and the other in 1957. There were around 800,000 of them made. Some were beech and others were walnut. Both of mine are walnut. They were both in excellent condition so all I really did was refinish the stock and clean em up real well. At the range they have amazing accuracy and that unique bolt action is superb. I highly recommend them for your WW2 or whatever collection.

P.S. They are considered to be one of the most accurate military rifles ever made....

I am up for a WWII Shoot day!

    I'll second that motion. :rockwoot:
It would be ideal to have this at a range that had an indoor facility for all of the non-firearm ww2 stuff. I would love to see a very miniature version of the 1500 for people to share the other stuff in their ww2 collection.
