Battery died on the trimmer, so I've got it on the charger. I've got another battery but I think I'll switch to pulling weeds and work a different set of muscles for awhile. I was at a good stopping point anyhow.

Some kind of small hawk just landed in the oak tree. Not sure what kind it was. Wasn't one of the red tails that I usually see. Only about 1/2 to 2/3 that size.

    Maybe a kestrel?
Our old place had several families near. Always taking the small grain and berry eaters.

Here we have at least three red tails close by. Two owls, at least.
Have only seen one lone kestrel.

I think it may have been a Cooper's hawk or possibly a sharp-shinned hawk. The coloration looked right for a Cooper's.

Probably Coopers or Sharp Shinned. They look almost alike but S/S is a bit smaller. There are others native to the area though. In flight the R/T has a shorter looking tail and body. The other two have longer tails.

American Kestrels are pretty small. Got to see one at about 20 feet one day while I was squirrel hunting.
