Shoulda named her Killer. We had one named Kittle that brought quail into the house to eat them.Callie just got a full sized rabbit. It's not quite dead. I'll have to finish it off after breakfast if it's still alive.

Morning, Patience.Shoulda named her Killer. We had one named Kittle that brought quail into the house to eat them.
Mornin' patience! Callie's not a big cat. Rabbit wasn't that much smaller than her, so it was pretty impressive that she was carrying it in her mouth.Shoulda named her Killer. We had one named Kittle that brought quail into the house to eat them.
Maybe a kestrel? Some kind of small hawk just landed in the oak tree. Not sure what kind it was. Wasn't one of the red tails that I usually see. Only about 1/2 to 2/3 that size.
I think it may have been a Cooper's hawk or possibly a sharp-shinned hawk. The coloration looked right for a Cooper's.Maybe a kestrel?
Our old place had several families near. Always taking the small grain and berry eaters.
Here we have at least three red tails close by. Two owls, at least.
Have only seen one lone kestrel.
Probably Coopers or Sharp Shinned. They look almost alike but S/S is a bit smaller. There are others native to the area though. In flight the R/T has a shorter looking tail and body. The other two have longer tails. Some kind of small hawk just landed in the oak tree. Not sure what kind it was. Wasn't one of the red tails that I usually see. Only about 1/2 to 2/3 that size.
American Kestrels are pretty small. Got to see one at about 20 feet one day while I was squirrel hunting.Maybe a kestrel?

I got into those before especially on old coal conversion. Pics? This job is interesting. Some odd ductwork design happened here a long time ago.
