I hear ya. I did no trimming. To treat breathing and extreme heat/sweating ( and increasing weight on chest ) I did park the tractor several times to go sit in shop A/C before going back at it.
I tried to mow yesterday but felt like I had a truck parked on my chest after 5mins being outside so I came back in due to AQ messing with my copd. Thank God my neighbor has a bailer, I might need it by the time I get to it..
I might try your approach if I try to today. AQI has risen from 55 at 7 to now 64 so it's probably going to wait til tomorrow.

That used to be one of my jobs as a kid. I remember sitting out under a shade tree and snapping them for what seemed like hours.
