    What’s wrong with your computer?
Not sure if it's the whole computer or just the screen. Yesterday afternoon I saw some "lines" on the screen and then yesterday evening it went completely blank (white) and now when I turn on the computer, it is just a blank (black) screen.

I've got a business card from a little repair shop, so I think I'll call and see if they're even still in business. I'd really like to recover what's on the hard drive at least, but if it's expensive to fix (if it can be fixed) then I'll have to get a new one.

Do you have a monitor you can plant in to see if it lights it up
No I don't. This morning when I turned it on to see if it "healed" overnight, the Windows and Dell logos did come up briefly but then it went to black. Hopefully it's just a graphics card(?) or something.
