True. Now I really need to get a transfer switch installed. This one is big enough to run the whole house.
I need to get one of these set-ups. I was without power for 27 hours.......lost probably half the cost of this to bad food. Just curious though, in a nutshell.......how do you hook a transfer switch? I almost went and bought one of these yesterday, but then I thought about what I could run on it from extension cords and just waited it out. How hard is it to run this to power entire home? Thanks buddy. Didnt mean to hi-jack this post.....

I don't know for sure (I'm no electrician), but I assume it's something on the outside of the house near the meter that you would feed the generator into. When the power goes out, then you'd flip the switch over to the generator-supplied side. I did the extension cord thing, but just to two refrigerator freezers, tv and a light (although cable and internet were out too) and the lights and fans out on the deck.

I took Waylon to the cemetery and walking him 1.5 miles. There were pretty deep puddles. He loved that. I think that is his first time. I need to get him to a creek or pond to try him out in deeper water.

We keep kicking around the idea of a generator but I think we’ll wait until the next house. Probably start looking to move more to the country in 2 years or so

My FiL had one of those big propane tanks (Farmer). Then a neighbor died and he ended up with his. So he had enough propane to run about two years with a little conservation.
