What I got from the story was an ignorant security guard tried to grab the guys gun. Then the 'lert whooped his ***. Then the guard got in trouble.

Play it safe. Open carry!

Man, he should have pressed charges against the security guard. This is the reason open carry needs to be done. That is, so that people don't associate the carrying of a gun with the intent to "shoot the place up." People need educated.

Glad to hear the security guard got what was coming to him....I hope he learned...NEVER reach for a man's gun.

Not fond of any open carry except on the range, I'm sure
Kirk would agree. Play it safe....don't do it!

I don't know. I open carry from time to time, like when I need coffee in Broad Ripple.:D

Mmmm, coffee and having gun-ignorant cops point guns at me for obeying the law, two great things that go together, sort of like peanut butter and jelly.:n00b:

Security guard is lucky he only got beat on and not shot, I'd say..

Yes. This is a very good story about PROPER TRAINING. I.E. the 'lert did not have to think and was able to act with non-lethal force. If his weapon retention plan was tied to use of a blade from the weak side, blood &/or body on the floor would change things greatly. How much moreso if a BUG was plan A?

Note that this was also a retention holster. That also may have made a big difference in the situation.

I do expect two things: a civil suit and a call for new gun laws.

I would have advised the 'lert to press charges as a leverage point.

Read through the other thread and the OC guy was NOT charged with anything.

He did not press charges against the security guard though he should have.

I'm sure you are making an incorrect assumption about Kirk's agreement.

Just read some of the messages in that forum . . .

That security 'tard must be a total d-bag. I wish I could be shocked that someone could be that stupid.

I'm disappointed that the victim of the assault is not signing a criminal complaint against the security 'tard so the prosecutor can file charges. I think it needs to be done on principle.
