He wont take our gun rights away. He'll restrict them so tight that the only guns we can have are single shots and black powder.. ha they don't know about half of my guns!

This ^ Bipartisan means compromise. Compromise between idiots (regardless of their political bent) means "common sense" gun legislation. Doesn't look good, but then again, one thing to take SOME solace from is they are low road for using a crisis to make political headway on their "promises".

As if by torn apart you mean there are a bunch of people on the right who literally hate him then I guess so but he would have been hated by the right no matter which Democrat would have been elected & no matter what that Democrat would have done. The rhetoric started flying even before he got elected let alone got into office.

Really, besides the health care bill (which by anyones account hasn't "torn apart our nation") what has Obama done to restrict our fundamental rights? How has what he has done damaged our economy any more than it was already by the former administration? Obama inherited EVERY problem we have right now from Bush. EVERY ONE. The economy, the war, terrorism, EVERYTHING. NOTHING that we are facing now STARTED under this administration.

Any more gun laws? No.

Any new FISA abuses? Not that I know of.

Any major new taxes? Can't think of any.

Any "free speech zones" (like Bush had during his speeches)? I haven't heard of any.

Is he any better than Bush was? No. & those on the left didn't take two terms to show their frustration with him the way the conservatives did with Bush all the while allowing him to really destroy the economy & erode our rights.

Remember the PATRIOT Act, Homeland Security, TSA, warrantless wiretaps, torture, indefinite detention for even US citizens/denying of habeas corpus?

The Republicans had 6 years to restore our gun-rights to their former glory & what did they do? NOTHING! There was not one gun control law that was rolled back. Bush even sent his solicitor general to argue against Heller which was the one case that we had to finally have a chance to clarify our rights again.

People complain because Obama's not doing more to take charge & fix things but as soon as he did you all would be screaming "socialism" louder than you already are.

I'll be watching the speech and withholding judgement until then. I strongly doubt we'll be seeing an all out call for a reinstatement of the '94 monstrosity.

In all honesty I don't think Obama gives a tinkers' damn one way or another on the gun debate. The ultra left wing of his party necessitates the previous calls to reinstate the AWB - but Holder was briskly instructed to put it the hell away within moments of uttering his desires to reinstate once his appointment was approved.

We'll see - I just don't think it's in the cards.

Actually, no-one's made the argument that he isn't a socialist. What finity wants to know is pretty specific. What. Has. He. Done.? Other than Obamacare, (which congress designed) what, specifically, has Obama done? He's certainly stayed away from gun rights, so far.

I would say that the country was divided before he even got into office. Bush did lots more damage, Obama has just carried on in the same vein, (renewing Bush area PATRIOT Act and other programs), but Obama hasn't really done much, to be honest. Just signed stuff.
