Actually, I doubt gun control is even on his radar. It's a death sentence in an election year and for dems in general. His one backdoor attempt has blown up in his face, (even though he managed to get defacto long gun registration through the BATFU). Any serious moves would kill any chance at a decisive victory in November.

You might be right, but he is running on a platform to raise taxes. That too is unprecedented in my memory.
