Nick if you have 3 TV sets then you should completely disconnect the 4 way splitter and you should also leave the unused lines disconnected. You can always reconnect a line later if/when you add or move a TV set.
Your set up should have 1 antenna > 1 amp > 1 3-way splitter >>> 3 coax cables running directly to 3 TV sets.
And don't forget that the amp will add noise to the signal so while you will get more channels with the amp, the signal will be somewhat degraded.
That is why you want the fewest splits possible, and the lowest power & cleanest (read that more expensive) amp you can get away with.

Your amp may not be strong enough to have that many splits.
It is an amp that you connect to a wall outlet right.
