There's always a first time. Your young just buckle up and watch everything go away. As I say "I may grow old but I refuse to grow up". Everyone at work will have to wait a while till I'm back and go around yelling "Wheeeeeeeeee". One guy there say's no whee and I say wee wee on you.

Everyone else.. I'm stuck at home I'm bored.
Me.. I'm READY. Submarine life prepared me for this.
My boss.. I'm gonna need you to come in EXTRA.

We're making the steel used in food cans.
Apparently, that's a big thing now.
    So, Yeah for Campbells Soup.
    I guess.

Side note. We're pouring a slab 9 inches thick, 48 inches wide, at about 60 inches a minute. Been pouring this slab several days.
    THAT'S A LOT OF CANS.

Plastic soup containers are convenient for the microwave.
But look at $ per ounce of soup.
You pay a LOT for that convenience.

Also, the metal is more recycleable.

We were cutting back on D&I steel (steel used in cans) because the new exotics for automotive safety cages is much more profitable, and the smaller Mills have a harder time making.

But, the pencil pushers always make the assumption that a trend will continue forever.
    It never does.

Right now, 2 Caster can handle the automotive stuff easily. Orders are down.
That frees us up for D&I. It's still more profitable than the lower grades.

Also, you could be thinking of the rolling mill.
We no longer finish the product.
But we make the metal, which is then sold to someone else to "finish" the product.
