Duh is a Chicago dialect, it is instilled in their public schools (when they are in session and the teachers are not on strike).

It is usually expressed as, Duh? or Dug Bulls.

Well aware of that. Lived in Chicago for 9 years. My point was the pronunciation of region.

Jedi may be right on the 'war', but on a different subject, the chief thinks he can slide right back into his old job? Wonder how long that will last. At 27 years in, maybe the chief needs to consider retiring. I'm not saying he should, but it might be prudent.

Its not an unusual occurrence in LE circles. Ive seen elected Sheriffs revert to a merit rank in their department after either being termed out or losing an election. I'm sure its an option for an appointed rank as well.

Got my GPIW renewal notice today. Now that I live a little farther east, the MCRC is closer. I discussed it with the wife...we're thinking.

Anyone else get an invite to the commissioning of the USS Indianapolis tomorrow? I know a couple folks going.

I was there. Got the t-shirt. It was cold and blustery but at least the rain held off to the end of the ceremony. I heard 7,000 to 11,000 in attendance. It was nice. Could have used . a few less speeches given the weather, but what the heck, it was a once in a lifetime event.

The county replaced the culverts on my stretch of 500 West this week, and left them covered in gravel. Traffic and the rain has created serious craters in that gravel. Be careful if you are driving on 500 West South of Division.

Plus it doesnot matter much this year anyways.
