It looks like the West Lafayette walmart is not going to be stocking as much ammo. The glass case that once was always full of ammo is half full of knifes. After looking over the case there are no places for 223 ammo and most handgun calibers didnt have a place either.

I noticed that as well, but they also moved airsoft into the case where the knives used so they may be remodeling soon to allow for control on the sales of airsoft to minors besides I haven't seen .223 there for awhile though Ive seen .308 a few times. But its all speculation for the moment :dunno:

Well guys I'm sorry that a lot of you weren't satisfied with my topic. I just thought that I would share my experience that I had on the phone with the Walmart customer service rep. Ill keep my experiences to myself so I don't have to bother the certain few that were dissatisfied.

You will notice that it was posted in didn't you. It could have been avoided.
This has been the hot topic of late.

I was just on the Walmart website and you can no longer click "check for store availability" or even the new option "find in another store" on ammo. Could this be because they will no longer sell it??
Just a couple weeks ago I was on it and you could check which nearby stores had what in-stock.

I hope they quit selling it. Don't think they will, but hope they do

eh... whether or not you agree with the store itself... Walmart is about the only place right now selling ammo at normal price.

Just bought 3 20rd boxes of 5.56 for $5.97 a box this morning. Sure beats the hell out of the $16.99 the LGS is trying to get

There's to much money to be made for Walmart to get out of the firearms an ammo business ,all they care about is profits .

:n00b: HUH? Do you realize how many walmarts have stopped selling guns in the last 7 or 8 years? My old hometown area in central Illinois both sold long guns in 2002. Both of them stopped around 2006/7. I dont know of any that sell any guns from IL RT36 all the way up to chicago! The only ones I know of are in southern IL.(excluding IN) :rockwoot:

Arms and ammo at Walmart seems to vary by store, region or even state.
I haven't seen one yet in Kentucky that doesn't carry both while ours here
in southern Indiana are divided on arms but all have ammo. My local store recently added an ammo cabinet after not selling it for a couple years.

I completely agree, if the LGS would sell at normal prices there would be no reason to go to Walmart. I swing by a few times on the way home in the morning to see if I can get lucky.

The Walmart in West Lafayette has taken at least 1/2 of the ammo case, and is now displaying KNIVES in it. Something is up with ammo.

Probably just trying to make use of the empty shelf space until things get back to normal. I hope...

ALL (well I think the announcement said all) IL WM's stopped selling handguns so when that happened they just stopped selling guns period except for paintball and a few crapy airsoft guns. Some even stopped selling ammo then too.

I used to live in Champaign before I moved here. I cold no longer live in a state that couldn't trust it's citizens to be armed while all the public officials made sure they could be armed or at least had armed escorts. How many people know that all it takes to get a concealed carry permit in IL is to be elected Mayor os some tiny berg? ALL MAYORS IN ILLINOIS are automatically allowed to carry, just show your Mayor's Badge (they all get a mayoral badge of office and special plates to boot) So here is Mayor Daily crying about how awful guns are while he is holding a carry permit. Can you say Hypocrite?

they wont stop selling it, theyl just "UN-ROLL BACK" the prices, mark them up 40-50% or more. that way instead of others buying ammo, and making a profit on it. walmart will make the profit. walmart aint losing money right now, but if they can make a bigger profit...whats stopping them?

Was in Muncie south Walmart and was told that as soon as it arrived it was gone and been told this a few times already. I noticed they moved stuff around and asked and was told by the young lady that they did it to take up space not anything more. Guess they don't like empty spaces.

Of the 4 Super Walmarts within 10 miles of me, none of them sell guns. Ammo, yes. Guns (other than airsoft), no.

Greencastle Wal-Mart just got some bolt-action guns in their store recently, a .243 and a .270 and a few youth model .22 but no ammo! they only had .410 and a few 12 ga. game loads.
