Would have to go for The Melting Pot. Been to the one in Castleton quite a few times and never disappointed. Be prepared to spend several hours there though. With the interaction of cooking the different fondues, the time flies. With the low lighting and private tables(most of them anyway) it definitely earns some points on the romance front as well.

Check out Fountain Square. You can have rooftop dining with a great view of the city. Or eat indoors if weather too stifling. The owners run the entire show
Nice cocktail bar on the first floor for drinks and appetizers. Then you can eat on the roof. Follow with a little duckpin bowling to get the circulation going again then rent a nice room fro the night in the same building. Quite nice. Makes a good getaway.

    Oh, no, a restaurant thread.:D

Last time we did this it was "there ain't no place to gets me good grub where I drive in this here city" and then did four pages of me listing restaurants.

Rather than list the dozens upon dozens of joints that I would recommend in Indy and point that Indianapolis is running over with great restaurants (but you have to leave your subdivision), I'll give you something different that we really enjoyed:

Welcome to Saffron Cafe! Located in downtown Indianapolis

Great food, beautiful cozy joint, and try the peach tea.:)

I can narrow it down and give you a Kirk's Top Ten (Downtown) if you want different things.

All I had to see on the Menu was the Mussels Saffron and I was interested. I haven't had a good version of that dish since I had it at Les Deux Gamins in the Village in NYC about 10 years ago..

    sorry to thread jack :D

I like Eddie's, I also like Sullivans and Flemmings...not a huge fan of Ruth's Chris. But by far and away...I recommend a drive to either Cinncinnati or the Bel Terra Casino in southern Indiana....and have one of Jeff Ruby's filet's. Pricey, yes. I would pay double!!

    Simply amazing.

I ate at Jeff Ruby's in Louisville last year. It was great!

Budda Lounge! It's cooked sushi though... I don't like sushi but this place has AWESOME food. Ask for Ben and tell him Jeremiah Laughner sent you and you want to try the Four Treasures and add the Lobster Tempura on top (I usually ask for the Raw tuna to be removed for the Lobster Tempura). The Special Lobster and the Kamakzi are equally impressive! The rolls are 6-8 pieces. Also try the Rickshaw Martini (its a lemon grass and sake mix he created and its awesome!). They have a nice selection of cigars also.

Ben and Steven own the place, before they opened they both went to Wine and Cigar classes, Ben has a knack for coming with with interesting drinks! When I'm in there he tries out new drinks on me, he's a great guy. I send lots of people down there and no one has ever had a bad thing to say.
