    Probably, obvious noob question:

As far as the ammo for this weekend's toys are concerned are 223's and 556's interchange? Or should it be 556?

Then on the 9mm luger stuff is 115gr 9mm Luger ok or is a heavier weight bullet preferred?

    Thanks guys.

My understanding is that normally people don't have any issues running .223 in a 5.56, but some people don't like the idea of running 5.56 in a .223. I believe it has to do with the higher pressures of the 5.56 and it is also slightly longer, I believe.

As for the 9mm, the heavier-weighted bullets are for the suppressed 9s because they are subsonic.

Well since ssnfa can't come out to play on vets day will there even be any weapons chambered in 45acp?(besides the suppressed m10 in the OP)

Yep, sorry guys. If you didn't see it in the INGO Events forum here it is again:

We had mandatory NRA range safety officer and CPR training scheduled for Sunday, Sept 23rd, for the entire staff of Beech Grove Firearms that has now been rescheduled for Sunday, September 30th.

Since I have been hired as the new director of NFA sales and operations and will be running the entire NFA department at the new store, I am required to attend this training which will take most of the day.

I don't have a choice, I am going to have to miss Vet day on Sunday. Sorry for the late notice. :(

Thanks. That was the way I understood the 223/556 thing too. Just wanted to make sure there wasn't some nuance about these particular guns I didn't realize.

I have had several emails about ammo for the Grease Gun, The Thompson and the Sten. In reality they are very NON-picky guns. I have never shot steel cases out of them BUT you are welcome to try and I don't think they will have any issues with them.

I do ask that no reloads (commercial or handloads) be shot in them and if I catch them in a box being passed off as factory loads the shooter will be done with my guns for the day.

In the past I have brought up to a dozen machineguns and silenced guns to NFA day, but after spending about 20 hours cleaning guns and equipment last year after the monsoon rains, I have scaled back this year. Mostly because I know for a fact that I will not have time to dedicate working or cleaning them between my four jobs and family life.

So, hopefully I can still show you a good time with some true American Icon (and a brit) MG's!

Feel free to post up or email me if any of you have specific questions.

Since the "no reloaded ammunition of any kind" stipulation was made for the entire event, I imagine anyone stupid enough to try such a stunt would be escorted from the premises.

I don't blame you in the least. I'm just glad you're bringing any at all. Can't wait for Saturday! Thanks again to everyone involved in the planning, setup, logistics, etc. I'm sure you're going to make my day great along with many others.

Is 7.62x51 ok for the 1919, or is it strictly .308?

Anybody know? I have access to a bunch of 7.62x51. If not, from what I gather from this thread, steel case .308 is ok?

If it wasn't for last minute, I wouldn't get anything done at all!

I've heard of people in the past getting German battlepacks, and I know they were 7.62x51. I don't want to speak for the owner, but I don't see why it wouldn't be fine...

They are the same. The boxes I'm bringing are labeled 7.62x51.

7.62x51 is actually underpowered compared to .308. Case dimensions are the same, but the load itself is not.

The 1919 shouldn't be picky about either one though.

I know they are the same size, physically, I was just concerned if the 1919 was picky.
That is what I was concerned about. Hopefully the owner of the 1919 won't mind.
    Thanks for your input!

    Not quite 7.62x51 == .308. From ar15.com faq:

" Both cases will have the same external dimensions while the .308 has a slightly higher pressure 60Kish vice 50-55 CUP psi for NATO. As a side note the reason the pressure issue is confusing is becuase the military measured 7.62 NATO chamber pressure (PSI) via CUP (in the 40s) vice the normal commercial rating of PSI measured (now) with electronic means. You will see many cling to the 50-55K PSI figure for 7.62 Nato becuase that is what the old Army TMs have in them. Since there is no conversion for the CUP measurement to the newer electronic measured PSI, they are two different numbers i.e no direct comparison. Many people will assume the CUP PSI is the same as SAAMI/Commercial PSI. It is not. Commercial PSI is derived from the direct pressure in the chamber through electronic means (piezo transducer or strain gauges). CUP is a crush measurement of a copper slug that has been fired, again not the same test."
