My carbine was purchased by my father after he got out of the army in the 1950's(it was is issue weapon). He bought it at a K Mart .
It's sad the the ammo is so darn expensive and hollow points :ugh: are just out of sight.

I have a plainfield m1 that i love to go out and shoot. Like gunman said, very little recoil. Word of advice, if you find a decent price on ammo, buy a lot of it. It's harder to find and normally runs pretty high. Or you could pick up reloading like I did. It's a fun hobby.

I have an IAI clone while not a GI issue she is a joy to shoot. Hardly no recoil, great house gun. What I read it's comparable to light .357 while that's no .30-06 I still don't want to be shot by one. In my op it was America's first assault rifle. Starting to get ready to reload since harder to find ammo locally sometimes. Enjoy it!

I bought a M1 Carbine back in March and I can vouch for the other comments--a fun gun to shoot. Congratulations on your purchase!

Okay, I don't have it yet. I just won the auction on Gunbroker, but by this time next week I should be fondling my new (to me) Iver-Johnson M1 Carbine.

    So stoked.

And for only $406! (plus shipping & ffl of course)

M1 Carbines are a BLAST. Literally ! That .30 Carbine round has a BOOM all it's own. Wear ear protection and enjoy! :yesway:

I wan to get the M1 Carbine action in a synthetic stock. I saw one today at Westforth and it was nice to hold and the grip was much small for the hand than the traditional wood grip

They are a blast to shoot. Regarding ammo....the only stuff I ever see under 30 cents per round is Tula. It may shoot ok but I don't care for their 5.56 ammo so I am hesitant to try their 30 carbine

Last time I bought some I got some Armscor From cheaper than dirt for 33 cents per round.

Good deal OP. You're gonna like the little carbine.
I shoot a lot of Prvi Partizan 30 Carbine ammo with good results. Reloadable brass too.
Check out the buttstock mag pouches at Olongapo Outfitters.

Reload gunman. Get that press smoking!!
It's an easy cartridge to reload. Just watch your case length.
Components can be scarce at times. More so than components for some other cartridges.
