    I will probably go to my first 1500 this Saturday. I will be looking for but not necessarily buying a 92fs, Ruger LCP, and my first AR15, among other things. I have no idea what to expect since I have not been before. Are prices that much better than a normal gun shop? Any tips or things to be on the lookout for would be appreciated!

    I wouldn't say prices are better than a normal gun shop, but you can shop around and compare prices with 5 or 6 other gunshops without having to drive all around town as well as gunshops that are on the other side of the state.

    yea, definitely walk around and take notes on who is selling what you want and for what price... you'll find some wiggle room for negotiating.

    also, have cash to get a better deal. i would also recommend looking at who the INGO sponsors are and seeing if they have any specials (for instance, 21st Century has LCPs for $269.99). it always helps to support each other :)

    Yes shop around and plan on spending some time.
    Take notes.
    I have went back to get something before and could not easily find the same table again. :dunno:
    If you see someone carrying around a 92fs, ask them if it's for sale.
    you might get a deal. If not you still meet some good people.

    :D The summer shows June and Aug are not as big as the other ones are, but you will still find lots of dealers. We are all in one big room in the summer shows so that does make it easier to shop around and be able to hit all the venders. They have it in this building in the summer months for the air conditioning it provides. Also it is a good idea to always bring cash. Some dealers like me only takes cash. There is an ATM machine there also. I think you will have a good time and hopefully find what you are looking for and if not I dont think you will walk out without at least maybe buying a knife.:dunno:

    As long as you pass the NICS check you can take it with you.

    Keep in mind that the law gives you the ability to take it from the place of purchase back to your home (or business), but no where else. So transporting to your in-laws would be a no-go.

    If you KNOW someone with a LTCH, you can buy it, and then take it wherever you want as long as they are with you to take it home...

    Make a list. If I don't make a list I end up buying a bunch of crap that I don't REALLY need.

    You know, like going to the grocery store hungry.

    IC 35-47-2-1
    Carrying a handgun without a license or by person convicted of domestic battery
    Sec. 1. (a) Except as provided in subsection (b) and section 2 of this chapter, a person shall not carry a handgun in any vehicle or on or about the person's body, except in the person's dwelling, on the person's property or fixed place of business, without a license issued under this chapter being in the person's possession.
    (b) Unless the person's right to possess a firearm has been restored under IC 35-47-4-7, a person who has been convicted of domestic battery under IC 35-42-2-1.3 may not possess or carry a handgun in any vehicle or on or about the person's body in the person's dwelling or on the person's property or fixed place of business.
    As added by P.L.311-1983, SEC.32. Amended by P.L.326-1987, SEC.1; P.L.195-2003, SEC.6; P.L.98-2004, SEC.155; P.L.118-2007, SEC.35.
    <A name=IC35-47-2-2>IC 35-47-2-2
    Excepted persons
    Sec. 2. Section 1 of this chapter does not apply to:
    (1) marshals;
    (2) sheriffs;
    (3) the commissioner of the department of correction or persons authorized by him in writing to carry firearms;
    (4) judicial officers;
    (5) law enforcement officers;
    (6) members of the armed forces of the United States or of the national guard or organized reserves while they are on duty;
    (7) regularly enrolled members of any organization duly authorized to purchase or receive such weapons from the United States or from this state who are at or are going to or from their place of assembly or target practice;
    (8) employees of the United States duly authorized to carry handguns;
    (9) employees of express companies when engaged in company business;
    (10) any person engaged in the business of manufacturing, repairing, or dealing in firearms or the agent or representative of any such person having in his possession, using, or carrying a handgun in the usual or ordinary course of that business; or
    (11) any person while carrying a handgun unloaded and in a secure wrapper from the place of purchase to his dwelling or fixed place of business, or to a place of repair or back to his dwelling or fixed place of business, or in moving from one dwelling or business to another.

    so the part in the end of this that says
    "or in moving from one dwelling or business to another"
    specified after the to his dwelling or fixed place of business
    does'nt mean i could take it along to the inlaws for a little target practice as long as it was in a secure wrapper?

    not trying to contradict just trying to save myself from adding 200 miles back and forth to home to a 250 mile trip

    No you can't take it to target shoot. You can take it home from the dealer, to the dealer for repair, or you can move from one house to another. Moving like move all of your stuff as well.

    Brett, be prepared for the best AR-15 show you have ever seen. If this 1500 is like many of the ones passed, you will find more AR-15s, in all forms from just a bag of parts, to completed rifles. Keep a pen and pad with you to keep a record of what you find and where. You might find an upper you like on one table, and a lower somewhere else that together are cheaper than buying a completed rifle, or you just might find a completed rifle that might be a few cents more, but is all factory like Bushmaster or Rock River.

    One thing I found about the 1500 as a Beretta nut is that 92s are few and far between, but you never know and might get lucky. Also as stated above, don't forget to look at the people walking around as you might get a great deal on a 92 that way.

    Not knowing you, please don't take this wrong, but please please research the prices of the firearms you want. I have gotten some great deals on Beretta 92s and passed on beautiful pistols that were just slightly overpriced.

    Good luck.
