No, booze and guns don't mix. Nor does anything else but ugly chicks. :) That being said, according to your post above, are you saying you support a law like that? Seriously? What about talking on the phone while carrying? Or maybe no Carrying in your car with little children around? Child proof locks at all times? Micro stamping? :dunno:

With all the laws on the books, and all the laws me and so many others are working VERY hard to reverse or rewrite in a sensible fashion, why would you advocate MORE laws? Especially one as asinine as that?

Darn it. You guys keep beating me to the point I was going to make. It irks me every time I see a gun owner and supposed 2A supporter suggest more ways to infringe our right to carry.

Although, I heard texting and carrying can be mighty dangerous.

I know this wasn't quite directed at me, but for the record:

Although I don't advocate drinking while carrying, I don't think there should be a law prohibiting it. I simply think people should take the responsibility of the choice upon themselves, as well as any consequences that go with it.

I feel this way about many things, not just guns + booze.

IMO, if one chooses to drink "even a little" while carrying, there are two things one needs to keep in mind:

    1) Be absolutely sure what your "limit" is and that you stay within that limit. Even a "little bit" of impaired judgment could mean making the bad call in a close situation, a bad call that will reflect badly on us all.

    2) If you ever decide to pull the weapon while having had even one drink, then be absolutely sure it's justified. A "reasonable man" argument might save you if you haven't had a drink but if one has been drinking people are much more likely to question whether a "reasonable man" would have drawn in those circumstances.

If one has any question, any question at all, about following either of those strictures then it would be better either to not drink or to not carry. If one can follow those strictures, then I don't see why one could not carry and drink in (very much) moderation.

(SE: it's the same logic as that behind not carrying the rifles chambered at the OC walk--an accident may be unlikely, but if one were to happen the consequences would be disastrous.)
