a news station reported the owner of the boat found blood on it and peered inside and there was a body on the floor. Think he was pretty injured. He probably was to weak to put up much of a fight

FYI - Before the gunfire a while back, They kept saying "Don't fire, we are only firing blanks at the boat". It was repeated many times and then all the gunfire started.

That's why he was still alive after.

Yes. That will tend to happen when you are shot all to hell and full of shrapnel. He had a taste of what he gave to those innocent folks.
