Well... just sent Marion County $624.00 for the privilage of being able to live on my "own" property.:noway: And I'll be damned if I don't get the same privilage again in November.:yesway:

MAN I could have used that money for something better.:ar15:

Well, actually, you paid for the privilege of roads, infrastructure, libraries, schools, police, fire, and EMS protections, and a multitude of other city services. The proportion you pay, is of course, tied directly to the value of your property, minus your generous homestead, mortgage, and supplemental tax deductions. You may not want or need those services, but as a citizen of Marion county, it's your obligation to pay them.

About 90% of the property owners beside you, myself included, just did the same thing.

So the fact that you pay sales tax, county income tax and state income tax aren't enough? Roads and infrastructure paid by the taxes on your automobiles? It's only an obligation because it is mandated that is it so.

Sorry, not only does it rub me wrong to see 80 plus year old "homeowners" paying property taxes for schools that they might have never used, but with all the other taxes, it would be really nice to be able to own my house.

Oh I know I'm not the only one. BUT let's see, roads full of potholes, crumbling infastructure, drug and gang infested schools, etc.... Seems the monies are not spent very well to me.:dunno:

I kind of feel that way in the winter when all the main streets are plowed and salted and clear yet there is solid ice or snow so deep on the side streets we can't get out. :dunno:

I didn't think property tax money went for roads - they have other taxes for that. I thought it went for firefighting, law enforcement and stuff like that

yeah, i got boned too in marion county. some new school referendums passed so they can take more of our money and waste it on creating stupid kids. as if there weren't enough already. ours went up over $200 compared to last year. yeah its not a ton of money but it sucks when I believe property taxes are wrong in the first place.

I'd really like to hear what can be done in November to "solve" anything.

people can once again have false hope by voting.

the masses will fall in line and vote like good little citizens and the current abomination known as the U.S. govt will retain their power.

yeah, im past believing too. I still vote, but its basically just pointless anymore because no one else will vote for the people who will return us to the constitution.

I think you'd be surprised to see just how much of that 'tax money' goes to Administration costs to school systems. Keep in mind, admin costs are not EDUCATION costs.

Not to mention, people don't have the 'right' to opt-out of their children going to public schools, therefore skipping the tax. I think it's BS if you ask me, you NEVER own your land - sure it may be paid off but don't pay your taxes on owned land and see how quickly it gets seized.

You own NOTHING in this country, the mentality of people supporting these taxes boggles my mind.

If I ever ran for state office even if I had no chance, I would use the media platform to rally the people and anger then to the point of ending property taxes in this state. the problem is, the socialist democrats would appeal to all of the welfare cases and tell them that their free groceries would be cut if that happened so they would turn out in mass to vote against it. most people who take, dont own crap.

    Baby steps my friends.

The USSA wasn't built in a day and it'll take longer to tear it down and build it back right.

We have some pretty decent people in office right now. We just need to keep up the pressure, as citizens, to remove the property tax from our constitution.
