Thank you Fenway! I really appreciate this.

The pens I have been making are the Bolt Action Rifle pens and the American Patriot pen. The wood I have been using is Olive Wood from Bethlehem. I love how the grain runs, and I feel like it's special that it's from the Holy Land.
I also have been using Acrylic. It's a plastic-like material, and it really shines when it's finished. I can get different colors, but the ones I have pictured below is what I have been using.

    The bolt action pens:

Here is a bolt action pen made from a Jack Daniels Whiskey Barrel:

The pens are $45 each. And I have been charging an additional $5 for shipping. But I can always do a FTF if the location isn't to far away.
I can also do custom orders. If you'd rather have chrome, black or gold, a different type of wood, etc.

I'm sure I'll be buying one soon. These look REALLY nice! Would it be difficult to create the following?....

I'm a fan of thinner pens. Not BIC thin, but like Pilot G2 thin. So maybe a 5.56 or 7.62x51 caliber? Maybe refillable with the Pilot G2 refills? Is this as easily done? Mind you I know nothing about pen craft. Just thinking of what I'd like to see most. :)

To be honest, these pens actually feel very good in your hands. My wife uses one all the time here at home.

This is the only size you can get in a rifle pen.

    lovemachine,
Not sure where you get your kits. I get e-mail ads from Penn State Industries, and the one I got today has a promo code to save $15 off order over $99. Ends Wednesday at 11:59p.m. Code:SAVEME15

Tagging as a reminder. I am still trying to decide which ones and how many I may want to order for Christmas gifts.

Buy one. NOW! Do not pass go, do not collect $200.

Mine is GORGEOUS, and made from a Jim Beam cask. I was planning on putting it on my desk at work, but it was so nice I too skipped Go... and put it back in the protective shipping tube and into "Daddy's cigar box of goodies"... The important, "the kids are probably gonna want this" stuff that would be in my right hand as I run out of the house in case of fire.

Its for a good cause, and well worth the $$.

I have received a couple messages from people who wanted to buy pens for gifts to other people, but are not gun enthusiasts.

The pens I have pictured in this thread are the gun related pens I have made. I can make other types as well, that are not gun related.

Interesting thought. As an alternative to the oak barrel material, maybe contact the CMP and see if they have any Garand stocks that are damaged and un-serviceable? THAT would be a pen with some history.

Interesting idea. I may just have to call them and see what I can find out.....
