    We need to come up with a better plan for November.

    I can't believe how many think they are married to their votes for life. There is a reason that voting booths are private and that we do it again every few years. Your vote is not tattooed on your forehead.

    Holding your nose to vote against those who would assist our current leadership, as opposed to changing it, will not send you to burn in hell.

    At this point in time, it's not about individuals. "I won't vote for whoever for blah, blah, blah," and "I just refuse to vote now," gets us the same Dem controlled congress and executive branch we have now, without the fear of a looming election to fire them.

    The big picture that must be changed in November is the House and Senate voting numbers and their leadership.

    Why? So the Republicans can sponsor obscene and gratuitous bills of spending and liberty-infringement?

    The ultimate liberty infringement will be further or total regulation of our firearms. That will be the dems #1 priority in January, if they retain their numbers.

    For anyone who hasn't read the Declaration of Independence recently. It's a lovely document.

    Well, I know I won't be voting for Coats. I don't forgive people who stab me in the back by taking away from gun rights. I also won't vote for that socialist Ellsworth. Both are typical elitist hacks, who have plenty of money (and now job perks) to be safe and sound as they disarm us serfs.

    You sir know nothing about me if you did you would know I am not a Republican and never will be. However when given only two choices I vote along my morals and values.

    Sir, you are correct that I do not know you. However, I do know that putting the blame on the dems like it seems many want to is a futile attempt at passing the buck. This is the first time in a good while that I was hoping for a particular GOP candidate to win so that I could vote for him but the party fell back on its real values. If anybody is curious as to why the Republicans were slaughtered in the last election then the GOP of Indiana just showed how little values the "conservative" party has as a whole.

    I vote with my morals as well which will make me have have to decide to vote for Ellsworth or a libertarian candidate if there is one.

Essentially the People will vote for either the R or the D. The L might get 20% of the vote. :dunno: Then what? Sit back and ***** about it more? You can't revolt, the sheeple would have voted for these hacks. Wait for the next cycle? After what more damage has been done?

    I do think there is merit to the argument that only declare "members" of either party should be able to vote to choose that party's nominee. That seems to jive really well with the idea of a political party in the first place: a group of like-minded people who team up to get a person to represent their goals, ideals, and values. Why should people who are not in the party be able to choose that party's representative? I don't see that as any kind of infringement of rights or freedoms that I'm sure Dems would decry.

    The "party" is welcome to pay for and run their own elections any time they want to. GOP could finance their own election tomorrow if they don't like the outcome of the one they extorted from the public tax payers.

    At least he is pro gun, despite his many other flaws.


    Souder represents my district. He spoke at my high school graduation, and I even got to tour the Capitol with him on a trip I took with NYLC (Bayh only took time for a photo op with us Hoosiers on the trip, and Lugar wasn't available). One thing that I like about him is that he shares my values. Many people say they vote for the candidate who represents their values, and Souder does that for me and my family.

    While I wish he hadn't voted the way he did in a couple circumstances, I do know that his votes were derived out of direct concern for our own community, as we have a GM plant in Fort Wayne.

    This time, if it wasn't Souder, we'd probably end up with somebody a whole heck of a lot worse, whom I'd definitely not want to support, winning the seat.

    On the gun issue... I just found this on the NRA website: Souder is one of the sponsors of the Second Amendment Enforcement Act, which would restore true 2A rights to D.C. residents.

    This legislation is necessary because the D.C. Council continues to circumvent the Supreme Court’s historic 2008 decision in District of Columbia v. Heller.

    Chris W. Cox, executive director of the NRA Institute for Legislative Action, said, “... We are grateful that a bipartisan group of members of Congress led by Senators McCain and Tester, and Congressmen Childers and Souder, have taken this significant step to require the D.C. Council to abide by the Heller decision and allow law-abiding citizens in D.C. to protect themselves and their loved ones.”

    Even if the L candidate were a viable option in terms of name recognition, media coverage, etc, I'd have just as much difficulty in voting for her as Coats. Traditionally, the L party stance on immigration and foreign policy sucks. And her explanation of her stance on immigration made me want to :facepalm:. She's not incorrect, but she's definitely approaching moon-bat status if she thinks she can reach the utopian ideal of pure competition. To say nothing of the fact that the immigration issue extends FAR, FAR, FAR beyond mere economic implications. Border security and immigration go hand-in-hand as far as I'm concerned.

    She came across a little too passive in the defense arena for me too. Either she meant exactly what she said or she sucks at conveying her real meaning. Not thrilled with either option.
