I think this bill just sealed the fact I can never move back to NY.

As if the horrendous overbearing government, outrageous taxes, and sky high prices weren't enough.

Last one to leave NY, turn the lights off.

I think I speak for all of us INGOers when I say all of you like-minded (to us) NYers that are fed up with the BS flooding your state, are more than welcome here in IN. We'd be happy to have more of "us" around. I think you'll like it here as long as we can keep the federal .gov out of our business. Heck, you could probably get some of us to help you unload the moving truck when ya get here.

So, does this ban assault weapons or just re-define what is an assault weapon?

Does anyone have the specifics on this law?

Further, if a "pistol grip" defines a firearm as an assault weapon, wouldn't that mean that all pistols are assault weapons?

Pistols were already regulated to high heaven before the bill so it doesn't change too much for them.

"Assault weapons" were already banned. This law redefines what an assault weapon is. Under the old law an assault weapon was defined as having 2 or more "military features". Under the new law it only takes 1 military feature to make a semi-automatic rifle an assault rifle. I believe the same is true for handguns and shotguns.

Ok, I'd like to see clarity on the pistol issue.

Doesn't this make all double stack pistols illegal as well?

Yes, IMO, it would make double stack pistols illegal for common citizens.
