Long ago there was a thread about "what bands have you seen live in concert" or something to that effect. I should know, I started it, but it was as stated... LONG ago. Anyhow... the search isn't showing up anything, and I wanted to bring it back to life as it has been quite some time and things have changed. Looks like we gonna have to start all over.

So... what bands have you seen live in concert?

Also, what one / ones have had the biggest impact on you & why?

Marie Osmond (First ever live performance as a kid @ a Cummins Engine Co shareholder meeting)
Larry Gatlin & The Gatlin Brothers (also Cummins Engine Co, CERALand park)

Jan & Dean (first solo concert, Paton museum park Ft Knox KY during Basic)

The following were at "Monsters of Rock" Zeppelin Field in West Germany in 1983...
    Twisted Sister
    Saxon
    Motorhead
    Thin Lizzy
    Meatloaf
    Blue Oyster Cult
    Whitesnake
Ozzy was supposed to perform, but the signs said he would not "due to illness"

    AC/DC
    The Kinks
    Joan Jett & the Blackhearts
    Bachman Turner Overdrive
    Kiss
    Guess Who
    Rolling Stones
    Fleetwood Mac
    Pink Floyd
    Corey Stevens
    Lee Greenwood*
Airmen of Note (U.S. Air Force Jazz Ensemble, direct descendants of the Army Air Corp Glenn Miller Band)
    Steve Miller Band
    John Couger Mellencamp
    Kenny Chesney
    Air Supply (wife made me)
    .38 Special
    Eagles* (before Glenn died)
    Joe Bonamasa
    Foreigner
    Loverboy
    Kansas
    Electric Light Orchestra

One Night of Queen (Queen tribute band)
Get The Led Out* (Led Zeppelin tribute band)
Lexington Lab Band (Best cover band in general. They can do anybody)

OK... most impact... You probably say the * on 3 of them.

    1. Back during Desert Storm I was a Drill Sgt at Ft Benning. Lee Greenwood came to pump up the troops, and man did he ever. We had thousands of privates in a huge gym all singing "I'm proud to be an American... where at least I know I'm free..."
The roar of all those strong young male voices singing that song was truly something life changing.
I was not the only Drill Sgt hiding behind the bleachers so the privates couldn't see his tears of pride and joy that day.
That was the single most powerful concert performance of my entire life.

    2. The Eagles. I've been an Eagles fan forEVER, so when I finally got to see them (just a year or so prior to Glenn's passing) it was a very good show. Also... by then, I was able to bring my wife & kids with so they could share my love of their music with me. When they got back together for their "Hell freezes over" tour they had a few new songs, and they were playing live on tv one night. When "Love will keep us alive" played I told my then fiancée that should be our song... and it was. All those years later, the kids watched us dance in the isle next to the sound board, while our song was being sung live by the Eagles.

    3. As a big Led Zeppelin fan, it always bothered me I never got to see them. I have, however, seen Get the Led Out, and they are phenomenal as a tribute band. Listening to them is as listening to a studio album. They are that good. Now, I feel as if I had seen the great Zep. Strange, because I HAVE seen Pink Floyd, one of my other favorites... and that concert was just OK... Crappy seats, a rowdy crowd, and the sound wasn't that great.

    A holler in Kentucky
I believe Bachmann Turner overdrive was the first real concert I went to.
Saw Ac/Dc a dozen or so times
Saw Rush a dozen or so times.
    Pink Floyd
    Rolling Stones
Van Halen with and without DLR
    Beach boys
    Journey (the Steve Perry version)
    Eric Clapton
    Bad company
    The Allman Brothers
    Gregg allman
    Jimmy buffet
    Little feat
    Dokken
    Aerosmith
    Ted nugent
Several other 80s “metal bands” that I can’t remember all the names of
    Accept
    Metallica
    Merle Haggard
Hank jr a bunch of times
    Don Henley
Joe Walsh a couple of times
    Triumph
    Travis Tritt
    In living color
    Robert Plant
    Cheap trick
    John Mellencamp
    The Allman Betts band
    Vince Gill several times
    Dwight Yokam several times
    Barry manilow!!!

I know there are quite a few others, but, the 80s are kinda foggy.

The biggest impact any band had on me? Ac/Dc in market square arena, either back in black or flick of the switch tour, just mind blowing power!

Best guitar solo ive ever witnessed in person? Vince Gill doing the solo in Oklahoma borderline, Louisville palace in 2019. Good lord, that guy is not of this world!

Don't go to a lot of concerts but:
Pink Floyd - went with my brother, probably the best one that I can remember.
JudasPriest - went with a girlfriend... probably shouldn't say more... ;)
Kiss - X2 sounded great each time, impressive stage show.
    Roger Waters - too political.

    Didn't get to go:
    (antique musicians)
Aerosmith - Always wanted to go, had tickets last year but first show was cancelled, second this year was cancelled permanently.
Heart - Cancelled twice recently, AnnWilson cancer etc.
The Who - had tickets for Vegas I think it was 21/22, can't remember, that show got cancelled.

    Indy Northside `O=o-
My first concert was Little Feat with Tower of Power at the Indy convention center 1978.

New Year’s Eve 1999, Charlie Daniels at Market Square Arena got the fiddle out at midnight and continued on for another hour. Saw him at least half a dozen times more as he played a lot of free county fair shows.

A couple of Supertramp shows that were excellent. I wish they could have worked out their differences with Roger Hodgson and reformed.

Eric Clapton twice, this was my favorite since Little Feat.

Firefall, Pure Prairie League, and Little River Band were very good at the time.

When I went to see Loggins and Messina at a small venue in Dayton Ohio, we were in the fourth row. Musically, my favorite show of all time.

And of course I got to see the Eagles in Hell freezes over tour in the new Fieldhouse.

Probably 10 to 15 grateful Dead and Dead and Company shows (whenever they were in Indy). I enjoyed jam bands, and the crowds always interesting to watch. They had some of the best sound engineers in the business so it always sounded great as long as Jerry wasn’t too high.

Too many others to remember and list. These were the standouts though.

My first concert was Led Zeppelin
    Market Square arena
    April 17th 1977.
Left such an impression I remember the dang date to this day.
I won’t list the many that came after but it would match the lists above
At that time Led Zeppelin was beyond huge. Almost like rock gods if you watch the recording the song remains the same I think it was that tour

I’ve been to a few. Surprisingly, probably the most entertaining concert I got to go to was a Ronnie Milsap show. I didn’t really want to go but my dad was in advertising at the time and got them for free. He talked me into going with my girlfriend at the time and I was impressed. He was a superb entertainer.

My first concert was Ozzy with Korn as the opener in 94. lol the last concert I went to that I wasn't working was Lit in 07. lol Kevin the bass player was at the time in a country band called Good Man Down that I worked with a few times, and invited me to the show. He also forgot to add me to the guest list. I paid and saw the show.

Let's see. I'm young, and am unwary about going into mass disarmament zones, so the list is small

Brit Floyd (Pink Floyd tribute band, also my favorite one)
Stone Temple Pilots (after the lead singer passed)
    Everclear
    Dirty Hooks

Seen more local bands than big ones.

In reverse order, I got a late start

(Upcoming in October) Iron Maiden, Future Past Tour, Opening act is The Hu, I'm excited about that one

Iron Maiden, Legacy of the Beast 2022, opening act was some forgettable Dutch metal band

Iron Maiden Legacy of the Beast 2019, opener was some (again forgettable) band that Steve Harris's kid is in

Alice in Chains with Korn(the day before Maiden 2019 too)

Black Sabbath, The End Tour, another forgettable opener

Iron Maiden, Book of Souls Tour, Ghost opened but they too were forgettable

I'll give this a try, but I'm sure I'll leave a lot out.

Marshall Tucker at the Convention Center in 1976 - that was my first. IIRC, tickets were $7.00.
    In no particular order:
    Charlie Daniels
    Blackfoot
    Molly Hatchet
Marshall Tucker with Pure Prairie League at Pine Knob ski resort up near Detroit - introduced several friends from Michigan to "redneck music" at that one.
Marshall Tucker at Purdue - outdoor venue, don't remember the name.
Rush and Max Webster, Market Square Arena
Yes - Going for the One tour.
    Genesis - "Mama" tour.
Kansas - Point of Know Return tour
Grateful Dead at Market Square 1978-ish (great show)
Grateful Dead at Deer Creek early 1990's (left the show early - it was the "In The Dark" tour and I couldn't handle the scab-covered nasty "Darkheads".
John Hiatt several times, with and without his band and with other musicians - Lyle Lovett, Gary Clark on the songwriters tour. - one of my favorites.
    Lyle Lovett solo.
Jennie Devoe at a few different small local shows.

Like I said, I'm leaving some out. Certainly leaving out some local bands in bars. Several death metal/Goth shows at The Ritz on the east side back in the early 2000's (no longer there). Those were only because we were friends with some girls from the Classy Chassy that were into that kind of stuff. :):

Oh! Doesn't count as a "show" but Rick Downey, drummer for Blue Oyster Cult was a friend of a friend and used to come and jam with our little basement band back in the early 2000's too. He was awesome! :D

Oh! Remembered a couple more after seeing some of these posts.

    Willie Nelson
Garth Brooks (never really “got” him until my wife wanted to go see him at Rupp arena a few years back. I totally understand the hype now, that guy knows how to work an audience)
Roger waters at yum center a couple years ago. As said above, very political, but the sound was excellent and the visuals were amazing.
    Keith Urban
    John Anderson
    Pat Travers band

My first was Herman's Hermits at the Ohio State Fair in 1969. I was only like 7, but my older sisters begged mom and I guess she couldn't get a sitter.

First real concert was the Police with Joan Jett in 82 at MSA
    Foreigner
    Mellencamp several times
Van Halen 1984 tour - best seats I ever had, but the show kinda sucked.
Bob Seager - Maybe the best show ever for me
    Fabulous Thunderbirds
    Black Crowes
    Charlie Daniels Band
Stevie Nicks with Boz Scaggs - I was the DD for my wife and two of her friends, but I did end up liking the show.
Willie Nelson a couple of times
    Dwight Yoakam
    Don Henly
    Guns n Roses
    Jackson Brown
Neil Young and the Blue Notes - Say what you will about his politics, "Rockin in the Free World" was really cool.
    ZZ Top
Henry Lee Summer a bunch of times
Big Head Todd and the Monsters
    Georgia Satellites
    Bachman Turner Overdrive
Duke Tumatoe - I went to school with Donny Lee Clark, who played with Duke, including the acoustic guitar behind "Lord Help Our Colts" on Bob & Tom way back in the day.

I'd also love to know how many little bands I heard play "Gimme Three Steps" in how many little redneck bars in the 80s and 90s.
