Been playing my Les Paul and acoustic guitars for the past three years and learned very quickly hwo differently the strats are to tune, at least with the floating bridge. Since half the music I want to play is a half step down I figured I'd pick up another one so I wouldn't have to switch back and forth constantly. Found a good deal on a lightly used Player Plus top model.

But.... I'm not a fan of red, I got time on my hands and I like to work with em and make things my own so I did a bit of work and it's now wearing a nitro finish, new Seymour Duncan in the bridge, GOTOH tremolo set and locking tuners. Just got everything put back together today so I'm slowloy getting it dialed in but sounds great already.

I picked this 4 string electric mandolin off of Reverb the other day...It's made by Andrew Jerman, a Hoosier luthier out of Columbus.....It was in a store in Toronto Canada and I felt like I needed to rescue it...the store seemed like a Guitar Center and that mandolins may not be their game...I got a good deal....per tracking it's in Detroit now and will be "back home again in Indiana" first of the week....

I enjoyed repainting the strat and as I was researching the model history and various specs and setups I kept seeing mention of the Squire Strat SE models that were apparently great guitars for modding so I made a mental note to keep an eye out for a cheap one. The next day I opened up FB MP and there was a Squire Strat SE neck and body for $30. I figure why fight it so I drove out to Muncie and snagged it. Used some parts I had laying around, threw another $100 or so at it and I absolutely love it. The rosewood board is very nice and the 12" radius feels a bit more familiar to me than the 9.5 on my other two, though it's a small difference.

I could really get in to building guitars. It's has a lot of parallels with firearms builds. Lots of options, lots of controversial decisions and the sweet satisfaction of putting something together which is now likely worth less than the sum of its parts :lmfao::lmfao::lmfao::lmfao::lmfao::lmfao::lmfao::lmfao::lmfao::lmfao:

Always nice to show our guitars.

I have an FSR HSH Stratocaster that was ordered with a hard tail bridge that is handy for step down tuning. I have been pretty happy with a wood shim in a regular Strat if I don't want to use the trem.

When I really want to play trem, I use a Gretsch with a Bigsby
