After I saw "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" in the theater, there were people hugging and crying. It's intense.

Pi has been mentioned, one of my favorites
A Boy and His Dog as well, pretty culty
Dark Star is really culty as well, but if you have the right humor, it's hilarious
Brazil seems to have sunken into obscurity; I actually went to see that twice in theater
Harry Brown might find a sympathetic audience around here
Life of Brian (Monty Python) my friend's mom that took us to see it was nonplussed

Wish I had all my DVDs in front of me; I could go on.

"The Rounders" from 1965. Very funny contemporary cowboy movie wit Glen Ford, Henry Fonda and Sue Ann Langdon. Guaranteed to make you laugh.

Forgive me, but Strange Days is easily one of the worst movies I've ever sat through. A friend contributed it to a group movie night and by the end, we all just sat there looking back and forth at one another with WTF expressions. Said friend lost his turn next time around to pick the next movie. :):
Said the guy with a Nyan Cat as his avatar.....:dunno:

Oh, another really weird one that is difficult to find and no one has ever heard of is "The Passions of Darkly Noon". There are a lot of fairly well known actors/actresses in it, but it just never went anywhere because it is just...well, let's just call it "odd".

    Newer ones would be

What's not to love about Strange Days? It's got racist cops, played by vincent D'Onofrio and William Fitchtner, running all over LA in a panic trying to cover their asses. A love triangle you don't realize until the end. Murder, intrigue, drugs, ex-cops, buff bodyguards and the ability to record your thoughts and play back the thoughts of others into your own mind. What's not to love? I mean aside from Juliette Lewis's singing.

It's got some of my favourite one liners.

"Two million years of human evolution, and that's the best idea you can come up with."

"This is what we laughingly refer to as a plan, right?"

"You know a way movies are still better than play back? Because the music comes up, there's credits, and you always know when it's over... IT'S OVER!"

"Cheer up. The world's about to end in ten minutes anyway. "

"Paranoia's just reality on a finer scale."

"One man's mundane and desperate existence is another man's Technicolor."

"His ass is so tight, when he farts only dogs can hear it."

and, of course, Angela Basset yelling, "Right here, right now!" that was sampled by Fat Boy Slim for a very famous pop song back in its day.
