I know the Evansville PD carries G21s but what brand of bullet do they use? Also I read that the ISP carries G17s loaded with Speer 124gr+P. Is that still the case?

    What do other agencies carry?

Last I remember, Mishawaka LEO's carry 9 mm Sigs. May have changed now. St Joseph County Police carry Smith 45 semiauto's.

Seymour carries Sig in. 40S&W. Trafalgar carries Glock 22/23. Charlestown carries Glock 31 (full size. 357 sig so I believe that is the model). Jackson County sheriff is Glock 21.

And theirs are even in .45ACP! (Now if only they'd get some shooting / grip instruction...)

I saw two Ohio squirrel police at the Boat, Sport, and Travel show a few weekends ago. They were toting M&Ps, but I don't know what caliber.

IMPD's normal issued duty weapon is the Glock 22. I think that detectives are issued the G23. I don't know what specific cartridge they're issued.

last i heard (about a year or two) this was standard for impd and city of lawrence and it was both 40 s&w. and the g23 was also assigned to female officers being they have smaller hands. don't know if it's true or still accurate.:dunno:

Kinda looks like a leaning-back stance - look at the front foot on the two guys whose feet you can see..

Last I knew, our county deputies were carrying Glock 22s with Remington Golden Saber JHPs. Local departments (or other units that aren't issued firearms) may carry their choice of firearms as long as they're also chambered in .40 and are of "Reputable Manufacture".. so I've seen a few M&Ps and an XD..

South Bend PD carries Sigs. They look like Sig P229s but it's possible they were P226s or P220s. I haven't seen one out of the holster (lucky me!). I'm guessing .40 cal. South Bend doesn't seem like a LEOs with 9mm type of place.

Haha. Did you see the mythbusters episode on grips and stances? Gangsta style did surprisingly well. So did guns akimbo, which I found shocking, too, especially for two fairly untrained guys.

Talked to a guy that is going to be a reserve for Salem. Told me that. 40 was the required cartridge. I got the impression that he could choose his gun but Glock or Sig was reccomended. He choose a Glock 22 and has to supply his own duty ammo.

The question about cartridge selection is still out there. Seems that my LEO buddies mention both the speed gold dots and Remington golden saber.

Crap.. I was just over in Evansville picking up Penn Station for lunch, and was in line behind a Evansville LEO. I even was thinking about asking him how he likes his glock, what he shoots, if he has to buy his own ammo etc etc.. But I got called in line next. :(

(Now if only they'd get some shooting / grip instruction...)
If you follow the link, it's from their first day of firearms training for the new recruits, I'm sure they've gotten him sorted.

I've seen Excise with M&Ps, and our local Sheriff seems to be a mix of Glocks and M&Ps.

When looking beyond Indiana, FL,GA, NY, PA and SC all carry Full size Glocks in .45GAP. OH and MI carry the Sig P226 (Learning the Patrol Shotgun « MSP Recruits)
IL carries the G22 and Last I heard KY was issuing the G35 with a G27 for a backup
