Kurdish female infantry units

When the US military was discussing allowing females in combat roles such as infantry, I was against it. I'm still pretty much against it if its done in integrated units, as I saw the drama that male/female units had that all male units did not. (My MOS was all male, my ex-wife's was integrated).

The Kurds apparently have not had that debate:

I had assumed this was a recent development, perhaps simply a response to depleted population during the war with Saddam's Iraq and now ISIS, but apparently this has a long tradition with the Kurds:

Interesting stuff. Some Middle Eastern countries won't allow a woman to drive, others will let her go to war at 16.

I have no problem with pms-ing women in desert combat. They're mad enough to kill and they retain water.

Nope. Kurdish women have been active in combat groups for decades, most notably against the Turks and other enemies of the Kurdish people. Has nothing to do with insulting another side in combat.

I would never have guessed the Kurds would allow women to fight.
