    RIP
Well, I woke up Sunday morning
With no way to hold my head that didn't hurt
And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad
So I had one more for dessert
Then I fumbled through my closet for my clothes
And found my cleanest dirty shirt
And I shaved my face and combed my hair
And stumbled down the stairs to meet the day

A truly iconic songwriter and as influential as anyone in the Outlaw Country genre. For my money, he wrote the best opening line of a country song:

I have seen the mornin' burnin' golden on the mountain in the skies
Achin' with the feelin' of the freedom of an eagle when she flies

RIP to a true legend in every sense of the word.

One of the greatest song writers but man his voice was the worst of the Highwaymen. Then again everyone comes in behind Waylon. And Johnny’s voice is one of a kind, then there is the nasal sounds of Willie.
