And no "H" in Jose. Or "W" in Juan. How about Colonel? And there is no "Q" in coupon.
thank you ^^And there is no "Q" in coupon.
And no "H" in Jose. Or "W" in Juan. How about Colonel?
My English teaching nun from High School would have a fit with some of these pronunciations.
You are correct.
Leupold (LOO-pold) - American maker of excellent quality scopes.
Leopold, Aldo (LEE-uh-pold) - One of the founding fathers of conservationism in America.
It bugs the crap out of me when a hunter says they have a "LEE-uh-pold" scope on their rifle. It's not because they don't know how to pronounce the name of the expensive glass they put on their gun, it's because they have no CLUE who Leopold is, or why he was so instrumental to the hunting we enjoy today. Anyone who hunts or owns land owes it to themselves to read one or more of the collections of Leopold's essays; A Sand County Almanac is a good one to start with and Game Management was THE textbook on the topic for many years.
Note: Jim Shockey is sponsored by Leupold and they pronounce it correctly in their promotional spots!
It's "Hor Nay Dee."
Sorry for the rant.

My Aunt Shirley shops at "the Walmart's"
Does Shirley sell seashells by the seashore?
