Is this the start of a new front for Israel?
They have been trading shots at each other since October 7th 2023.

Lebanese government awhile back said they were going to side with Hezbollah.

According to Gallant, "We are shifting from repelling to actively pursuing Hezbollah. Wherever they are hiding we will reach them, including more distant places like Damascus and beyond. "We will increase the rate of attacks and expand our operations - that's what I conveyed this week in Washington to Secretary of Defense Austin, to Special Envoy Amos Hochstein, and others - and that's what I instructed the IDF at Northern Command."

"We are shifting from being passive to actively pursuing Hezbollah. Wherever Hezbollah is, we will reach it. This applies to towns like Beirut, Baalbek, Tyre, Sidon, Nabatieh, including more distant places like Damascus and beyond - wherever we need to act, we will,"
Israel has every right to defend itself, especially given the ongoing attacks from Hezbollah and other hostile groups. Since October 7, 2023, the situation has escalated, and Israel can’t afford to remain passive. Hezbollah has been a consistent threat, and with the Lebanese government aligning with them, the danger becomes even more significant. Israel’s strategy to shift from defense to offense, as outlined by Gallant, makes sense. It’s not just about responding to attacks but about ensuring these threats are neutralized before they cause further harm. Expanding operations to reach Hezbollah in distant locations is a necessary step to secure Israel’s safety and stability in the region.

It never ceases to amaze me, there are ALWAYS American civilians in war zones. They are ALWAYS libs, and they biatch about how they are being rescued.

And shouldn't the Embassy have done this months ago?

US Embassy in Lebanon urges Americans there to 'book any ticket available' on few remaining departing flights

Sorry I have NFG about dumb Americans that go where they are not wanted.

So no American citizens should conduct business abroad and be protected as an American citizen?
I just don’t care enough about those in a know terrorist area to worry about how they get home. You want to jeopardize your safety, go ahead you have every right to do so. I have no obligation to care or worry about you getting home safely

Different levels of civvies in areas like this.

NEO (Non-combatant Evacuation Order) This is family members in an area overseas. In Iceland my family had NEO packets and would be getting the hell out of Dalvik (needed an Icelandic town that starts with a D like Dodge) if needed. Volcano eruption would have done that with the one in Grindavik 10 miles from Keflavik. During the Cold War when we were intercepting 120-180 Bears every year? NEO had a whole lot different meaning. I'm guessing the State Department pukes at the Embassy have something similar.

Then there is: you are in a foreign country and not attached to any US Government function. The excrement made physical contact with the hydro-electric powered, oscillating, air current distribution device 6 months ago or longer. The country is pretty much overrun with terrorist ***holes who want to kill you. You probably should have left 6 months ago or more.

Then there's the retired GI who is working as a contractor in Oman. I was THIS CLOSE to working as a contractor in Oman in 2007. Oman is next door to Yemen, home of the rocket-slinging Houthis.

Not a good answer to anything here. But if you're having your arse pulled off a dock by the US (or any) Military, at least be polite.

Citizens obviously should follow all safety directives and of course be grateful to those getting their proverbial tit out of the wringer.
