Get yourself a Google Pixel. (For extra privacy, install the Graphene OS on it.)
It is one of the very few phones that we are unable to attack on a consistent basis.
DO not store any passwords on it. What ever you do, if it is private to you...do NOT store it "in the cloud."

Never would have guessed the "Google" phone is the most secure!

Me either. But maybe the OS is why.
BLUF: It is a combination of an unlocked OS and different chipsets.

Google ships the Pixel with minimal carrier apps and minimal bloatware apps.
The apps that are installed, can all be removed. If you remove the PlayStore app, it must be side-loaded (not going to explain all of this here).

You can even load Graphene as the OS vs Android: https://grapheneos.org/
This is not for the faint of heart. If you go this way, there is no Play Store to load apps automagically. Apps must be manually installed (side-loaded).

I've side loaded apps before and yes never smooth.

I used to run exclusively Linux on home computers, arch and gentoo, none of the easy ones :) I often wanted to try something on phones but didn't realize andorid apps would be compatible. Thats what I ran into when I looked at Librem phones.

Maybe I need to play with phones :)

I just always assumed Google phone meant Google is watching.

I know Samsung is watching can't get rid of their UI. Well I haven't tried but I assume if so it aint easy. But I like my flip phone footprint.
