Yes, we used to love to play with the P-3s. Most of those guys were trained by the Brits and speak very good english. Back in the day they were very friendly and respectful when they had an F-14 off of one wing and another on their six.

Let's be clear, if these Iranian boats actually tried anything that actually threatened American territorial waters, they wouldn't be making it back around the Cape of Good Hope, let alone back to the Persian Gulf.

I doubt the USN will pay any attention at all to them. What's the threat? It they actually come close to territorial waters any of our CG/DDG/FFG could take them out without even getting underway. Not to mention an SSN. They would be abandoning ship before they even knew we were there. Tacair is also quite effective. I am not concerned in the least.

Seriously, I am certain that the 'destroyer' in question is an Alvand-class frigate, which is actually smallish by frigate standards.
