Voted "Compact 1911" because my most used CCW is a stainless .45 ACP Springfield Champion. Not exactly a "compact", but not "full-sized" either.
When the clothing dictated by weather or circumstances requires something smaller to maintain discrete concealment at all times, my old Star M43 in 9x19 has done nicely for me for nigh onto 18 yrs. now. Everything works the same way as a 1911, which I find comforting as the vast majority of my formal training and SD-directed practice has been done with one.
S&W 638 or Charter Arms Bulldog...in the winter under a jacket a S&W Mdl 10 heavy barrel. Do you see a trend here? Yep I carry wheelguns. Always a round ready to go at the squeeze of the trigger.
I tend to have several handguns in my CCW rotation depending on where I'm going, weather, clothing, etc. Right now they are a Kel-Tec PF9, a Kel-Tec P3AT, a S&W 442, and a Colt LW Commander.
I have a couple of 5-shot snubbies, including a Ruger SP101 in .357mag, that pack real well most times of the year (see Avatar).
The only semi-auto that I have is a Glock 32 (.357sig) that's been seeing quite a bit of carry time lately...it's been my bedstand gun for several years...but over the past few months, it's started to see quite a bit of holster time!
I had to choose other, I do not have any of the "new" guns, I have old reliable ones..... I CC & OC, a S&W Mod. 19, S&W Mod. 59, S&W Mod. 645, and my backup, is a Taurus, Mod. 85, with a 3" bbl.....
For me my main carry either concealed or open is my full sized 1911. just concealed normally is my Kimber custom compact 1911, and occasional backup is my taurus 709. Either way I voted 1911 since either size is what I carry the most.
