Information on becoming a police officer.

I've been looking into this for a while and I know there are some police officers here so thought I would ask, I've learned quit a bit about becoming a cop, except one thing, how to apply at a station. I'm planning on trying to join the elkhart city pd. im just not sure how to go about it exactly, I feel like its not something you just walk in the front door and ask for a job application...
Also any other helpful hints would be appreciated

Actually yes...just walk in and get an app.

Go to each and every department you can.
