No especially the ones that will escort employees out. I'd take my chances before relying on them. My blowout in the ER was just some fat schmuck too.

Indeed. Wishard Patrol are off duty Sheriff Deputies and pretty awesome guys too.
Boy I hope they are nicer than the one I was stopped by about 10 years ago. Brother in law was seriously ill with Spinal Menengitis, and was a Wishard almost daily. Parking fees were beating up my budget in those dsys when I wasn't making much. Was driving around looking for some place close to park for free. And this Female officer stopped us and was just about nasty and mean as I had beend treated by a LEO. Kept telling her about our family issue but she would not listen and detained us for about 15 min for no good reason and would not contact wishard to confirm our story. I think she had a rookie with her and the whole time I could see him just shaking his head like let these people go they are not a problem. Nearly took her badge # and filed a compliant but I was just happy to be let go and did not want to get her started again.
Also saw on the news that there was going to be some kind of group study the safety issues for Convenience store employees, I just bet they won't recomend arming them!

It is my understanding this employee has been fired. There are several petitions going around to get him rehired. This is rumor as far as I am concerned. anyone have any first hand info?

    As of January 5th:
Prosecutor clears Kroger shooter | The Indianapolis Star | indystar.com
"Kroger expresses our appreciation to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Marion County prosecutor's office and the community for its support during the past 10 days. This has been a very stressful time for our Kroger family. The company has an ongoing internal review. There is no specific timeline for the completion of our review, and we have no further comment at this time."

I have not seen or heard anything at all this week.

"Thank you for your comments. We appreciate your interest and your willingness to share your thoughts with us. We continue to work with law enforcement and others to review this situation.

I have asked 4 or 5 times via Krogers website what the outcome of this situation was. I have informed them that I will not shop at Kroger again until I get an answer. Today I sent a copy of my Meijer bill for $153 dollars and explained that I drove past Kroger to get to Meijer and I and my friends will continue to do so until the situation is addressed.

I received the above response. I followed with the below response.

"Law enforcement has nothing to do with this. They have already cleared the hero. It is Kroger that won't announce if they support him or are going to fire him.

Your response is bull**** and you know it."

I guess Kroger did what everyone is told to do it arrested or accused of a crime, keep you mouth shut and don't say anything. This blows over and people forget about it and it doesn't seem to matter what happened to the manager. Maybe we should all send a quick note to both Kroger and the local news channels saying we have not forgot and want Krogers decisions.

I contacted them today and got the same dribble as posted above..."reviewing with law enforcement..." blah blah blah. I told them to drop the canned rehearsed rebuttal, I understand you're over a barrel here..this is not going to go away...we will not forget and are watching VERY closely...what do you intend to do about the outright lies printed in your handbook...there's nothing to review with LE, they've made up their mind unless you are trying to press trespass charges against your employee...I think I've found a way for you to save face here, your out is that the employee is management and thus responsible for the saftey and well being of the other employees and customers thus making him "security" and allowing him to carry his gun....I really grilled "Emily" pretty good. I plan to call them once a week until they announce something. I also informed them that I will continue to send in my meijer and walmart receipts until a satisfactory outcome is reached, then and only then will I resume using ANY holding of theirs.

Reviewing with LE, what a load of crap.

I wonder if anyone has considered that perhaps they fired the guy and gave him a severance with an agreement to keep his mouth shut about being fired?

Very possible. Also possible is a suspension then a firing on a different "issue" at a later time..

The dribble that Kroger is dishing out sounds like a vague response encouraged by the chain's legal department.
    Stranger things have happened.
