On November 30, 2009, the Bloomington Herald-Times made the following announcement:

“This week, HeraldTimesOnline.com will launch its new gun permit database. You’ll be able to search gun permit records by county, city or town and street."

The Herald-Times has begun receiving calls and emails, and their response is a defiant defense of their online gun permit database.

Anyone who visits the newspaper website will be able to search the number of permits on a given street or neighborhood. Although at this point the names and house numbers are not listed, the newspaper’s website treats law-abiding Indiana gun owners like sex offenders on a searchable database.

It is NRA's firm belief that there is no public good served by the publishing or cataloguing private citizens’ gun ownership information, and that more harm is done by such an action. Law-abiding Hoosiers should not be subjected to the same treatment as sex offenders, and if the newspaper won’t listen to their constituents and customers, then NRA Members and Indiana gun owners should send a financial message by cancelling their subscriptions to the Bloomington Herald-Times.

Please contact the Bloomington Herald-Times to respectfully voice your displeasure at the irresponsible action the newspaper has made.

It’s not really surprising. Bloomington is one of the most liberal towns in this state, mostly thanks to IU. A friend of mine said that last year he thought his was one of the only houses in the city that had a McCain sign in the front yard instead of the exalted one.

I went to Indiana University. Ryno isnt kidding when he says Bloomington is one of the most liberal places in the country.

A couple of my friends are police officers down there and they tell me that same paper never runs a single positive article about the local PD, spinning every bit of news to the liberal tune.

And armed street is a safe street. The list can work both ways.

I've studied in short, the Old and New testament; not easy, and by no means am I scholar. Im currently working on another book.

Agreed brother. You are going off of facts, and nothing else. But sadly some (Techres) believes such facts are pervasive and 'scream' supremacism or racism.

I can go to an incredibly poor, White area, and see the houses are still in decent shape, lawns are beautiful, no fences, nothing that alludes to high crime.

NHV, all I have to say is that I pretty strongly disagree with your point of view here. I grew up with racism and bigotry and I lost my taste for it at an early age. It takes a lot of forms, some outright and some subtle, but I don't care for it in any stripe. Nope, I don't have any illusions that it doesn't exist out there, but I for one try to not perpetuate it.

Typically, the American Skinheads are racist and I figured they all were. When I first got to Germany, I took a black guy and a Puerto Rican to a bar in Nurnberg. There were skinheads out on the dance floor so we quickly left. Several months later, I saw a black guy from my battalion hanging out with skinheads at another bar. I talked to him and he explained what the original skinhead movement was all about. A group of blue collar workers who were clean cut. They didn't focus on politics, race or anything like that. I saw more than 1 fight where the skinheads backed up one of our minority soldiers. They never minded a fight but it wasn't about race.

Racism is just a handy word to describe the natural attraction for your own kind. Since we're just animals, with nice toys, we do exactly what every animal does. We gravitate to those who are "like" us.
This, and every other "subject specific" site on the Internet, practices a type of racism by excluding those who are "different", or hold beliefs that are abhorrent to us. It's natural to seek out, and favor, your own kind.
The problem comes when that selection process becomes so ingrained that it over rules our civility and turns to hate instead of simply creating a "comfort zone".
Mr Freeman was entirely correct. However as long as there are groups that turn the natural attraction that we all have into reasons to hate, we are going to experience the racism problem.

I think racism goes a little deeper than that. I have no problem with someone gravitating to or being naturally attracted to those like them.

But when you resort to expressing your hated by wanting those different than you completely separated from you...or threats of violence against those who are different because of the color of their skin...this is where the problem starts.

I've shown that more Whites gravitate toward Combat units than Black people.
The history of White people, is full of warlike behavior. African, while they had war, they certainly were not on the level of European wars.

According to news reports, Christian and Newsom had gone on a date at a local restaurant on Saturday, January 6, 2007, but did not return home. Christian's parents found her abandoned Toyota 4-Runner two blocks away from the Chipman Street house the following Monday with the help of her mobile phone provider. An envelope recovered from the vehicle yielded fingerprint evidence that led police to Lemaricus Davidson and 2316 Chipman Street. When police went to the address on Tuesday, January 9, they found the home unoccupied and Christian's body in a trash can in the kitchen.



According to the testimony of the Knox County Acting Medical Examiner Dr. Darinka Mileusnic-Polchan at the subsequent trial of Eric Boyd, Newsom was repeatedly sodomized with an object and then blindfolded, gagged, arms and feet bound and his head covered. Barefoot, he was either led or dragged outside the house to a set of nearby railroad tracks. He was shot in the back of the head, the neck, and the back, and his body then set on fire.


Christian's death came only after hours of sexual torture, medical examiner Mileusnic-Polchan testified. Christian suffered horrific injuries to her vagina, anus and mouth. She was not only raped but savaged with "an object," possibly a broken chair leg, the doctor testified. She was beaten in the head. Some type of chemical was poured down her throat, and her body, including her bleeding and battered genital area, likely scrubbed with the same solution - all while Christian was alive, the forensic expert said. She was then "hog-tied," with curtains and strips of bedding, her face covered tightly with a small trash bag and her body stashed inside five large trash bags before being placed inside a large trash can and covered with sheets. Christian died slowly, suffocating, the medical examiner said

The national news media was criticized for allegedly ignoring the story because the victims were white and the suspects black.
