I offer my condolences to the officer's family. News said the perp died at the scene and they brought him back to life. What a waste of time and effort and money for a worthless POS.

Thoughts and prayers to this officers family and all of IMPD. Was watching WTHR earlier, said an officer was also shot and killed last night in Gary. So sad.

Disgusting piece of human offal survives and a hero is lost. I tend not to notice when the dregs of society are offing each other, but when innocents are involved, the hammer should come down HARD! This piece of craps whole family is dirt. Daddy died fighting with the cops when the perp was 14. He then added to his resume by getting caught twice with cocaine and once with 2 SKSs. This whole family is generationaly worthless. My only consolation is if this guy gets the needle in the end (and it can't come soon enough)

Just to clarify: He is the nice boy at age 12 in the picture broadcast. Daddy was no stranger the the law either and died (of a heart attack) in a police shootout several years ago and Officer Renn was on scene then as well. When does dodging bullets in the line of work become a resume enhancer? Such a waste. Prayers for his family and loved ones.

His dad didn't die in a police shootout. His dad died of a heart attack when he decided to fight the police whilst fat, drunk, and under the influence of cocaine.

I'm surprised the scumbag was from Indy. A lot of the gangbangers we deal with lately came to Marion County from Gary or similar because the judges and prosecutors started hammering them.

:dunno: A bullet will split a Gary thug's head and an Indy thug's head with equal facility.

This thoroughly fills me with rage and anger. I am not a police offficer, I work in idoc and I can't help but feel like were on the same "team". I know the scumbags like Davis all too well and that makes my blood boil. Blatant disrespect, disregard for human life, and guess what? He will wear the title " cop killer" like a badge of honor while he rots away in prison. My thoughts go out to Mr Renn's family during these tough times as well as all our INGO resident IMPD officers.

Just getting caught up with this story. This is so very tragic. And maddening. This city needs to come up with the $$ to better serve those that protect us and keep the animals in their f***ing cages. Sincere condolences to the IMPD family.

I get where you're coming from. July 1 new residents start. A whole new class was likely in the ED and got to experience the resuscitation of a GSW victim and saved a life (for now). You don't forget those experiences early in your training. Those docs will be better equipped to save the next good guy thanks to the opportunity they had tonight.

Tell me about it. This is my first July here, but these new docs already know more than us and start off at an incredible level of stupid.

I think someone needs to sneak in suspects room....and kink the tube on his air maker.

On another note....did the officer have a wife and kids? 22 years service.....such a shame.

    ^Stupid comment

As if you could even get to his room with literally 20+ family members being escorted out by all of the extra cops at the hospital last night.
