Keep voting!! Here's an update on the criminal proceedings against Officer Fishburn's shooter.

A Marion Superior Court judge has delayed a trial in the shooting of Indianapolis police officer Jason Fishburn until August at the defense's request.

During a hearing today, attorney David Shircliff said preparations for Brian Reese's trial, set May 4, had been set back while the Marion County Public Defender Agency sorted through attorney conflicts. The problem arose earlier this month when prosecutors disclosed that a jailhouse informant also represented by the agency had given a statement against Reese.

Several defense attorneys were taken off Reese's pending cases, including the Fishburn shooting and three murders that occurred the same week in July.

Judge Lisa Borges set an Aug. 10 trial for the Fishburn shooting, with the other cases going to trial later. Fishburn survived gunshots to his head and his protective vest during a foot chase of Reese July 10 on Indianapolis' Eastside.

Reese faces charges of attempted murder, resisting law enforcement and a handgun violation.

Also during today's hearing, Shircliff and the judge said her earlier order to remove a bullet still stuck in Reese's shoulder -- at the defense's request -- had become moot because Reese declined to undergo the surgery. Borges said she would be unlikely to grant permission again if Reese changes his mind.

I will keep voting for this young man. He has been such an inspiration with the way he has handled himself. What a shame that this ever had to happen to him or any other LEO.
Officer Fishburn is indeed a class act....as are his mother and father and the rest of his family. He came by his dedication and strength of character honestly. He is what all LEO's should strive to be. :twocents:
