So let me get this straight:

The Illinois State Police hasn't done their job in reporting Domestic Violence, and now the Feds have stepped in and are going to withhold DOJ funding and NCIS checks through ISP, if ISP doesn't get their act straightened out. The end result is the cessation of retail sales in Illinois.

However, ISP will do their job, as already required by law, if the Illinois legislature:

    1. redefines the statutory definition of Domestic Violence as defined under SB1034, which essentially defines a DV offender who has ever been merely charged with a crime of DV;

    2. and be allowed the unprecedented authority to enter judicial review process.

I have a great idea. Lets enforce the law instead, and arrest those in LE who are currently breaking the law. Create a bill and pass it into law, that redefines such police misconduct as a crime of Domestic Violence.

    will argue for sammiches.

Slightly upgraded for enhanced media buzzworthiness.

However, I liked the irony of your suggestion. ;)

Ted, as well, can we please all agree that the canard of "the police don't make the law" is rubbish and not use it here on INGO?

Police do make the law. Once again the police have ventured out of their barracks and have entered the FEBA on the right to arms.

Take their pensions away from them, they will shut up in a hurry.

As far as I'm concerned, let the ISP accomplish their deed and halt all retail firearms sales, and let the chips fall where they may.

Not only will it become an interstate commerce issue, but there might be some blowback from those voters who have yet to see the light......as well as the legislature freezing ISP payroll funding.

Somehow halting all firearm sales seems to violate a federal law that isn't being enforced, something to the tune of the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

There is so much wrong with the Illinois State Police story it isn't funny.

    They shouldn't have pensions anyway.

They should have to save money from their salaries like the rest of us.

On top of all of this, the FOID card required in Illinois should not even exist. It was a brainchild of criminal socialist Mayor Daley the 1st back in the 60's. Even though Illinois residents have to have the card to own a firearm or ammo, they also must suffer the indignity of a waiting period (3 days for a handgun, 1 day for a long arm). I am a refugee from Illinois and am very happy to be in a free state.

People in Illinois do not have rights. They willfully surrendered them decades ago, and continue to give them up daily.

People in Illinois only have privileges that are granted, or withheld by The State. I really don't see how the people in Illinois can complain, they've agreed to this arrangement for decades.

I'm wondering if the Indiana Department of Homeland Security can construct and guard a fence between Indiana and Illinois.....just to keep the governmental vermin from being able to infiltrate over to this side of the border.
