Like the title says, if you had your choice to fight off a pissed bear what gun would you use? ...

If I had my choice, I'd choose not to fight the bear. Otherwise, I'd fight with the gun I brought with me. Hopefully, I'd made a proper choice before I left the house.

You MAY have heard of the Kodiak bears... Yeah. Those. The largest / baddest sub-species of brown bear on the planet.

When out and about in the woods, he carries a 686 in .357mag and a 12ga shotgun.

Considering where my property is only has black bears, and a s-load of em. If I cannot have a 12ga with slugs, Im taking my .357 mag. Ideally I'd prefer not to have this theoretical problem.

I asked him why he didn't go with .44 mag for his revolver.

He said that the majority of folks up there carry .357.

.22 Shoot my companion in the leg and the bear will go for the easy meal.

And make sure you take some Grey Poupon to spray on your friend...the aroma will help too!

Personally, I would prefer a Ruger Alaskan in .454 Casull...great round for a big animal!
