So if you were going to get something in a 1911 frame but you were not getting a 45 what would you get or look at? I keep thinking I want a 1911 but not sure I want a 45. I know this limits your selection but wondered what my options were. Anything you would stay away from?

I have 45 and 9mm 1911's. I enjoy the 9mm a bit more than the 45 due to the cost of the 9mm ammo. The 9mm is a bit easier to shoot, but it's not that much of a difference. The 45 is a pretty easy round to shoot through a 1911.

I am planning a new carry piece. It will be an STI 2011 wide body frame, Commander length barrel and slide, chambered in 38 Super. Capable of carrying 18+1 rounds of 125gr DPX at 1350fps.

A standard Commander would be nice as a factory gun in 38 Super.

I would eventually like to get a 1911 in the .38 caliber.

But for now, the 1911 .45 I have is great.

Any reason why you're not interested in the 1911 in .45 caliber? Just wondering.

.460 Roland, 50GI, 10mm or .22. I think all would be very interesting and fun rounds to shoot. Of course, if i still have to pay for ammo, it'd be the .22 and i'd have to look at the 9mm guns. The only 9mm 1911 i have really considered is the Para LDA sub-compact 9mm.

If it could be only one other than .45acp, I would like the .38 super.

Ultimately, I'd like to have 1911's in all available configurations - that's not going to happen for a long time.

If I had to pick one other than .45, it would probably be the .38 Super.
Close call tho.....like the 10mm very much also.

9mm or .38 Super. Probably .38 Super because I've never owned, or even shot one. I'd like to. Plus, you can safely make major with them for competition.
