There is no such thing as a "good" labor union. They all artifically manipulate the relationship between employer and employee and disrupt the preferred outcome of market forces on the labor market. You like your union because it gets you more than market forces would offer you if left to decide. What you do not understand is what your union costs you, and everyone else, in its overall effect on the economy.

There is no such thing as a good labor union. Your relationship should be between you and your employer. Period.

Does the same apply to public sector unions?

Absolutely. You have no guaranteed right to collective bargaining offered by the Constitution. The language usually offered in response has absolutely nothing to do with an employee's relationship with his employer. It's not what the Founding Fathers were protecting. In fact, given the norms of their time, they would be irate to see how it has been bastarized by the liberals.

Are you not a member of a police union?

The original intent of unions has certainly changed over the years.

If the unions haven't been bastardized by the progressive movement, labor unions would still be limited to assuring a safe workplace and legitimate fair treatment of its workers.

There is also no language within the Constitution regarding privacy, travel, marriage, etc.

That is because the Constitution is not a limit upon the people, but a limitation upon government.

I would argue it applies especially to public sector labor unions, which shouldn't exist in the first place.

Private sector unions at least have to make an argument for to exist on their supposed merits; public sector unions are just a cancer in an already disease ridden body called "Government".
