It could also be credit card fraud.

Step 1 buy LOTS of something thats easy to move and mundane using a stolen card. (gift cards are getting too easy to cancel after fraud report so you gotta spend them or sell them FAST)
Step 2: Sell said "free" product online.
Step 3: Profit.
